Ohio Treasurer Josh Mandel Partners with Attorney General Mike DeWine to Spread Awareness throughout March for National Consumer Protection Week

COLUMBUS – Ohio Treasurer Josh Mandel joined Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine in spreading consumer protection awareness throughout the month of March as part of a greater effort to educate Ohioans during National Consumer Protection Week (NCPW).  NCPW was celebrated this year during the week of March 3 – 9 and is intended to raise awareness for consumers and give them the information necessary to make better-informed decisions.

The Ohio Treasurer’s office joined forces with the Attorney General’s office to provide financial education materials and served as panelists during senior resource fairs that were held across the state throughout March.  Consumer Protection events in which the Treasurer’s office served as panelists included: Athens, Austintown, Columbus, Dayton, Mansfield, Marietta and Piqua.

“Giving Ohioans the information needed to make sound personal financial decisions is at the forefront of our goals to empower Ohioans in helping them make smart money choices,” said Treasurer Mandel.  “We were proud to partner with Attorney General Mike DeWine’s office in spreading this message during National Consumer Protection Week and throughout the entire month of March.”

“Providing consumers with information on common scams and pitfalls as well as smart financial practices is what National Consumer Protection Week is all about,” said Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine.  “The more information we can share, the better.”

Partnering in these events allowed the Treasurer’s office to join with government and nonprofit organizations in the mission of educating Ohio’s residents to make smart money choices.  The Ohio Treasurer’s office offers a vast variety of financial education tools, resources and workshops that are apart of Treasurer Mandel’s commitment to providing Ohioans with the knowledge they need to make more informed personal finance decisions.
