Treasurer Mandel Hosts Central Ohio Smart Money Choices Conference

COLUMBUS – Ohio Treasurer Josh Mandel’s office hosted the Central Ohio Smart Money Choices workshop in Plain City on June 27th.  During the workshop, attendees heard presentations on various financial education and planning topics including budgeting, credit and debt, investments, retirement planning, student funding and consumer protection.

“Our office is proud to host this educational event for Ohioans who want to get a better grasp on their finances,” said Treasurer Mandel. “It is important for families to be able to make solid financial decisions and we are happy to provide the knowledge and resources that will help them achieve their goals.”

Smart Money Choices is a free, half-day financial planning workshop for all Ohioans, presented annually by the Ohio Treasurer’s office and supported by a variety of statewide and regional partners.  The workshops are held throughout the state and allow Ohioans the opportunity to hear from money management professionals on a range of financial literacy topics to help them make more informed financial decisions.

Friday’s event in Plain City featured presentations from a variety of financial professionals, including representatives from the Ohio Tuition Trust Authority, the Social Security Administration, the Ohio Attorney General’s Office, Tax and Financial Strategies, Apprisen, Trinity and Rodriguez Financial Planning, as well as the Treasurer’s office.  Other organizations such as the Ohio Housing Finance Authority, Ohio Consumers Counsel, the Better Business Bureau, Ohio Department of Commerce and the Small Business Administration hosted tables at the event and provided further financial education resources.
