Treasurer Mandel Hosts Veterans Financial Literacy Workshop at Cincinnati State

COLUMBUS – Ohio Treasurer Josh Mandel’s office hosted a Veterans Smart Money Choices financial literacy workshop on Tuesday at Cincinnati State Technical and Community College as part of an ongoing initiative to provide financial literacy resources to Ohio’s veterans, service members and their families.

This free financial literacy workshop was offered in partnership with Cincinnati State, Xavier University, Ohio Valley Goodwill Industries, and the Hamilton, Clermont and Warren County Veteran Services Commissions. The series is a part of Treasurer Mandel’s effort to help improve awareness of programs and resources available to veterans and their families.

“As a two-tour Iraq War veteran, I know that a strong support system can have a positive impact when veterans return home,” said Treasurer Mandel. “Unfortunately, many servicemen and women are unaware of the valuable resources and programs available to them that can help ease their transition into civilian life. I want to make sure that our veterans are provided with opportunities that can help empower them to continue serving our country when they return home.”

The Veterans Smart Money Choices Workshop is a free financial planning seminar for all of Ohio’s veterans, service members and their families.  Key topics in the series include local benefits and financial assistance, budgeting, credit and debt management, investments, and identity theft and fraud prevention.  Additional topics covered include homeownership, retirement and estate planning and Social Security.

Tuesday’s event also included presentations and attendance from the Easter Seals, Congressman Steve Chabot’s office, the Ohio Attorney General’s Office, Trinity Debt Management, Cincinnati VA Medical Center, Social Security Administration and Rodriguez Financial Strategies.
