Ohio Treasurer Cordray Joins Trumbull County Officials in the Fight Against Foreclosures Print E-mail
Tuesday, 18 December 2007

Community leaders in Trumbull County are calling on Ohio Treasurer Richard Cordray for assistance, as they try to stem a tide of home foreclosures which has grown in epidemic proportions over the past ten years.

Senator Capri Cafaro and Trumbull County Planning Commission Director Alan Knapp have each expressed interest in forming a local version of Treasurer Cordray's Save Our Homes Task Force. The task force will bring together local resources to assist homeowners facing foreclosure, and to work toward bringing down the growing overall rate of foreclosures.

Representatives from Treasurer Cordray's office will be on hand to assist these local leaders in their first meeting of Task Force participants including business leaders, lenders, realtors, and social service agencies. This effort is based upon a model built during Ohio Treasurer Cordray's tenure as Franklin County Treasurer. The Franklin County Save Our Homes Task Force finds and identifies community resources for troubled homeowners and conducts homeowner and professional training seminars.

“We believe every Ohio community needs access to these critical resources to prevent foreclosures wherever possible,” said Cordray.
