State body oversees payments on Ohio 's general obligation bonds
( Columbus ) –A semi-annual report detailing payments for the state's general obligation bonds is now available online.
The report is issued by the State of Ohio Board of Commissioners of the Sinking Fund, which is comprised of State's Attorney General, Auditor, Governor, Secretary of State and Treasurer. This body administers debt service payments and administrative expenses related to state general obligation bonds.
The so-called “Sinking Fund Report,” which is required by law to be delivered twice a year to the Governor and members of the General Assembly, explains the nine types of general obligation bonds and costs associated with each. The report includes historical information on retired general obligation bond issues, including when each was approved, by what percentage of voters, for what amount, and how those borrowed dollars were ultimately used.
