(Columbus)- Ohio Treasurer Richard Cordray has been appointed to the Legislative Committee of the National Association of State Treasurers (NAST).
As a member of the Legislative Committee, Cordray will help shape the association’s federal agenda. The committee coordinates all federal advocacy efforts for NAST, which seeks to be the leading voice for state financial issues in Washington, DC.
The Legislative Committee’s 2008 agenda includes an effort to return matured unclaimed U.S. savings bonds to their rightful owners by leveraging the abilities of state unclaimed property programs. The committee is also monitoring legislation that may affect the municipal debt market.
Cordray has been actively involved in the association since his taking office as Ohio’s Treasurer in January 2007.
The National Association of State Treasurers, founded in 1976, is an organization of state financial leaders. It encourages the highest ethical standards, promotes education and the exchange of ideas, builds professional relationships, develops standards of excellence and influences public policy for the benefit of the citizens of the states.
