Jackson Township Joins OhioCheckbook.com

Ohio Treasurer Robert Sprague today announced that Jackson Township (Ashland County) has joined OhioCheckbook.com.

“I’m happy to welcome Jackson Township to the Ohio Checkbook,” said Treasurer Sprague. “This commitment to transparency will allow township residents to see exactly where their tax dollars are going.”

Jackson Township is the third township in Ashland County to join OhioCheckbook.com. The township’s online checkbook includes more than 3,500 individual transactions that represent over $1.6 million in spending from 2013 through 2018.

"I appreciate Treasurer Sprague’s leadership to make government more transparent, and I applaud the great work of local leaders in Jackson Township on this effort to keep their government accountable to the taxpayers,” said Senate President Larry Obhof (R-Medina), who represents the township in his Senate district.

“Township taxpayers deserve to know how their hard-earned dollars are being spent in local government, and that is exactly what the Ohio Checkbook allows them to see,” said Jackson Township Fiscal Officer Cheryl Welch. "The township does a lot with a shoe-string budget and taxpayers should know their dollars are being put to good use."

Since its launch, OhioCheckbook.com has garnered the interest of those hoping to learn more about how Ohio’s tax dollars are spent.
