This course will cover an overview of parliamentary procedure for public boards of education. Review common motions used, discuss special voting majorities, and the hierarchy of motions, including using parliamentary procedure strategically to solve problems.
The course will provide practical and specific meeting management using Robert’s Rules of Order, parliamentary procedures, voting majorities specific to Ohio public entities and other related issues.
Statement of Accreditation Rationale: Treasurers are legally responsible for the meeting minutes for the Board of Education. Knowing more about the nuts and bolts of parliamentary procedure will lead to more efficient meetings and seamless creation of accurate and complete minutes. Gain a level in understanding Roberts Rules and how it intersects with Ohio education law and special voting majorities.
