Statement from Ohio Treasurer Robert Sprague on the House Passage of House Bill 166

Ohio Treasurer Robert Sprague has released the following statement regarding the House passage of House Bill 166, the biennial budget bill. The House-passed version of the budget includes language to establish the ResultsOHIO pay for success fund in the Ohio Treasurer’s office. The statement can be attributed to Treasurer Sprague:

“I applaud Speaker Householder, Leader Sykes and the Ohio House of Representatives for passing a budget bill that would create the ResultsOHIO fund and support pay for success initiatives across our state. I also wish to thank Rep. Don Manning for his hard work in recent months to help us move this proposal forward.

“Policymakers and advocates have long tried to conquer plaguing public health issues like drug addiction and infant mortality. Despite our hard work and best intentions, we continue to find ourselves fighting the same fights year after year.

“ResultsOHIO will take a much different approach, as it relies on private sector ingenuity and expertise to invest in programs that are proven to work. By charting this new course, we will take a significant step to ensure sound fiscal stewardship when tackling some of the greatest and most complex challenges we face.

“In the coming weeks, I look forward to working with members of the Ohio Senate to further this effort and make ResultsOHIO a reality.”
