Treasurer Sprague Announces Most Recent Round of 2025 Savings through OMAP
COLUMBUS – The Ohio Market Access Program (OMAP) administered by Ohio Treasurer Robert Sprague has helped three Ohio communities enter the market and save a combined total of $43,559 in interest costs.
“OMAP has a strong track record of helping local governments reduce costs on infrastructure projects and other community improvements,” said Treasurer Sprague. “We’re proud to continue partnering with the Village of Granville, Logan County, and the Village of Jackson Center to help drive down costs and achieve meaningful savings.”
Village of Granville (Licking County)
The Village of Granville’s notes were issued to fund the construction of water main improvement projects. This issuance marks the sixth time the Village of Granville has utilized OMAP. Prior to this year, OMAP has saved the village an estimated $51,264 in interest expenses. This latest deal will save the village an estimated $12,715 in interest costs.
Logan County
Logan County’s notes were issued to fund County Home improvements. This year marks the second time that Logan County has utilized OMAP. Prior to this year, OMAP has saved the city an estimated $4,487 in interest expenses. This latest deal will save the county an estimated $6,731 in interest costs.
Village of Jackson Center (Shelby County)
The Village of Jackson Center’s notes were issued to fund the construction of a new electric substation. This year marks the eighth time the Village of Jackson Center has utilized OMAP. Prior to this year, OMAP has saved the village an estimated $114,548 in interest expenses. This latest deal will save the village an estimated $24,113 in interest costs.
OMAP is a credit enhancement program that leverages the state’s excess liquidity and high short-term credit rating to help improve market access and lower borrowing rates for local governments. Since its 2014 launch, OMAP has supported more than 375 deals, ranging from $365,000 to over $100 million. There have been no defaults, and to date, OMAP has generated more than $7.8 million in estimated savings for local governments.
Any government subdivision in good fiscal standing, including cities, villages, school districts, counties, townships, and special districts, issuing short-term debt is eligible to participate. For more information, visit https://omap.ohio.gov/.
